I noticed I cannot add comment/thread in Spreadsheet area so for moment doing it here.
Change Request S1 - Attachments and Assignment Flag needed on all possible parent unit sheets.
DIFFICULTY: Immediate request assume minor. Future automation assume medium.
BENEFIT: 80% admin reduction, better command visibility. Allows high benefit Command Sheet changes.
AFFECTS: CW at start and AXIS at start sheets.
FORM: A second flag column next to assign column in unit spreadsheets. Flag Y/N, where Y = attached to this parent unit.
N = Currently detached.
PURPOSE:
1) Allows Command sheet to be updated for visible units only.
2) Allows fast intake of possible changes in units attached or assigned for decision purposes. Possible changes to attachments and assignments are visible.
3) During play their is no need to update most unit sheets for new units and detached units. They can be populated with all assigned units at game start. This lowers manual sheet update by maybe 90%. It can be expected assigned units will be continuously attached and detached throughout the game frequently. Instead of regular sheet updates, the flag is simply changed.
NOTE: This function could allow future automation so that when a unit is detached a new unit sheet with all current attachments is created and perhaps a unit symbol made available on Cyberboard. Imagine the time saving here based on one flag. Regardless the current status can be simply copied to a new sheet, the assigned parent unit sheet or the new parent of the attached unit.
CAUTION: If non assigned units are detached and not expected to be reattached in the future, their entry should be deleted. If not space for further attachments is not immediately visible and sheet clutter will occur. It is expected commanders will use good habits simply to save themselves time.
FUNCTION:
All assigned units are placed on AT START parent sheet and details entered.
Any attached units are flagged Y if already assigned. DECISION = If Y The spreadsheet is auto updated to reflect their supply usage and other current status, ELSE .no supply and status data is included in sheet calculations.
Unassigned newly attached units are put on sheet and flagged Y. DECISION = If Y, spreadsheet is updated to reflect their supply usage and other current status, ELSE no supply and status data is included in sheet calculations.
When a unit is detached, flag is changed to N. DECISION = If Y, spreadsheet is updated to reflect their supply usage and other current status, ELSE Spreadsheet is recalculated to delete all supply data reflecting that unit.
------------------------------------------------
Future automation. DECISION = On toggle to N,
REQUEST input = INDEPENDENT? Y/N, H = , M=, L=, IF Y, <add new sheet name from current sheet, copy across all details, delete trucks from old parent, remove all status data from entry in old sheet, update old sheet supply data, open new sheet for allocation of trucks and other edits, ELSE,
= NEW ATTACHMENT PARENT NAME? Y/N, H = , M=, L=, IF Y, THEN IF <Assigned parent>, update assigned parent sheet from current sheet, copy across all details, delete trucks from old parent, remove all status data from entry in old sheet, update old sheet supply data, open new sheet for allocation of trucks and other edits, ELSE, update name into new parent sheet from current sheet, copy across all current status details (TOE etc.), delete trucks from old parent, remove all status data from entry in old sheet, update old sheet supply data, open new sheet for allocation of trucks and other edits, ELSE,
= CANCEL
Future automation. DECISION = On toggle to N, REQUEST INPUT = What dependent units of this unit are also detaching? LOT more work in this - forget for now.
