Sorry about that. I wrote "sent" in anticipation, however there was a glitch which has necessitated a fair bit of work. I should have it ready over the next 24 hours and wild despatch as soon as possible!

Hi Tony, Mike, Tim, Rob, et al, I`ve been lurking for some time hoping to see things kick off and I`ve been saddened by the general inactivity. So I just took a look at the "Punch List" and if there is anything I can do to help get things started please let me know. I don`t mind doing some typing, collating or whatever. I read the PDF of the rules last year and I have now acquired a physical copy of the game so I have materials to work from if necessary. Kind Regards, Nigel

Good to hear from you again, Nigel! Tony is reportedly doing some work in the background, and "twosolitudes" has expressed interest in participation, so things aren't completely moribund. Tim and I were essentially ready to start play whenever the Commonwealth side is.
Meantime, I've been working on a Vassal project for another mega-monster, War in the Pacific. Also doing a fair bit of research and modeling for the navies in the Mediterranean and Atlantic under the WitP system.

Hi Mike, If you require another participant, for the Commonwealth team, I would certainly be interested.
My preference would be either... "Logistics Commander: In charge of all supplies. Responsible for getting required material from Italy/Britain to port in North Africa (easy for the Allied Logistics Commander) and hence to the Supply dumps. Includes command of all Third Line Trucks, as well as Naval Convoys (for the Axis Logistics Commander)."
or... "Air Commander: In charge of all planes and pilots, and responsible for planning and execution of all air missions. Also responsible for deployment of air bases." ... which I understand has been largely re-written by your selves.
I am assuming that team members would be concentrating on their own responsibilities with direction, oversight and co-ordination from the C-in-C?
As I said before, I am willing to help with any remaining prep in order to get things started. That holds true whether my participation is needed/wanted or not as observing would be fun too.
All the best,
Nigel

Yep, I'm responding directly and warming up to the challenge again after something of a hibernation. Still responding to new member requests on the forum too.

Hi Rob et al,
Here, for what it`s worth, is my calculation... 1st Ops Stage/Org. Phase/Supply Distribution Segment..... Convoy of 14 Light Trucks Loaded with “Fuel” • Cargo of 50fp per truck = (14 x 50) = 700fp • Fuel Capacity of 8fp per truck = (14 x 8) = 112fp • Total fp that will exit Cairo for Burg el Arab = 812fp. • The Capability Point Allowance of a Light Truck, per a Cargo Type of “Supplies”, is 40. Per 6.3 the cost to load supplies is zero CPA.
1st Ops Stage/Truck Convoy Phase..... (The two trucks attached to the “hh” Recce vehicle, left in the Movement Segment of The Movement and Combat Phase). • First thing to remember is that each of our trucks still has 40 CPA remaining. • We are travelling on a road and 1 CPA will be expended per 1 Hex moved. • We travel 33 hexes (CPA`s) at a Fuel Consumption Rate (per CPA) of 0.2. • Our exact Fuel Point Consumption (per Truck) for the trip is therefore 6.6fp (33 x 0.2) which, per the rules, is immediately rounded up to 7fp. • Since each truck has a Fuel Capacity of 8, upon arrival, each truck has 1fp remaining in it`s fuel tank, 50fp in it`s cargo area (and 7 CPA`s left unused). • Total fp arriving at Burg el Arab = (14 x 50) + (14 x 1) = 714fp. • They unload all cargo fuel (14 x 50) into the Supply Dump for a total of 700fp. We will call this Supply Dump “Arthur” (to confuse enemy
eavesdroppers). • Unloading costs each truck 2 CP out of their remaining 7 CP because this is not the Organisation Phase (again per 6.3) • Each truck is now empty apart from 1fp in it`s fuel tank.
...and that is the game state whilst the enemy has his go at Ops Stage #1. Unless the weather turns “Hot” there will be no evaporation until the next Game Turn as the Stores Expenditure Stage falls outside of the cycle of Operations Stages. I think that is where the confusion in the example must lie. If the convoy`s fuel is evaporated as a total it will give one figure. If the trucks are evaporated individually a different figure will be arrived at. (e.g. 10 trucks carrying 60fp = 600fp. 600 x 0.09 = 54. But 60 x 0.09 = 5.4, which you then have to round down to 5 (per 49.3). One scenario gives you a total evaporation of 54 and the other of 50!)
2nd Ops Stage/Org. Phase/Re-Organisation Segment..... • The convoy splits and makes one group of 10 and one group of 4.
2nd Ops Stage/Org. Phase/Supply Distribution Segment..... • All 14 trucks “Gas Up” from Arthur (14 x 7 = 98fp). There is (700fp - 98fp) 602fp remaining. This costs zero CP and each truck is back to it`s maximum (8fp) fuel capacity. • 10 of the trucks take on board their maximum load of 50fp. This also costs zero fp because it is still the Organisation Phase. • Arthur now contains 102fp. • At the same time, back in Cairo, two more Light Trucks are fully loaded with 50fp and fuelled with 8fp for a total of 116fp.
2nd Ops Stage/Truck Convoy Phase..... • First thing to remember is that each of our trucks still has 40 CPA remaining. • The 10 trucks head West fully loaded. • The 4 trucks head back to Cairo empty. • The 2 other trucks leave Cairo for Arthur.
It`s still early days for me with this system so I would appreciate having whatever I`ve missed pointed out and any constructive criticism you may have.
Kind Regards,
Nigel

Rob and Nigel have now been assigned Full Player status. For some reason, the system insists on displaying the rank, instead of your group Nigel. Maybe it will catch up later.
Nice presentation on the logistics. I couldn't comment further at this stage I'm afraid!
Assuming the Axis side remains fully staffed, Rob will be appointed Commonwealth Air (tactical, strategic or all) Commander with responsibility for Rear Areas, with Nigel as Logistics wizard (yes, that's a new rank in the British Army - three pips, two crowns and a wand).

Thanks Tony, but I don`t think I`ve earned a single pip yet :-) Needs a lot of refinement and practice I think.
I`m going to take a look at the reinforcement/replacement/withdrawal timetable next so I know what needs to be where and when. Don`t want a regiment of Kiwis stood waiting at Alexandria train station for a week - there`ll be a riot! Rail and Shipping (Coastal and Otherwise) are both things I have yet to look at. Reckon air transport will come under Rob`s remit so I will leave that be.
I already took a look at the "History of the Campaign" booklet that came with the actual game. It gives a broad idea of how many tonnes of Stores/Fuel/Water/Ammo needed to be arriving at the front daily in order to meet needs - so it might give me a rough idea of what I need to move in game terms. If I look at the initial deployments, as described in the Scenario set-up, I will know what my starting obligations are. Once I work out what supplies each of those units is likely to guzzle per Game Turn I know what I have to move.
Will try something with a mixture of trucks next. A convoy of Heavies (carrying Ammo)accompanied by some Lights (carrying fuel). The ability to siphon from the Light`s cargo will allow me to extend the range of the Heavies, I think.
Anyway, I`m droning on, "thinking out loud", so I`ll stop here.
